SJ Auto Show / Amici's East Coast Pizzeria Traffic Poll; KCBS Voted Bay Area's No. 1 Traffic Info Source

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Jan. 23, 2003--KCBS Radio has been voted the number one source for accurate traffic information by attendees of the recently concluded 2003 San Jose International Auto Show.
Visitors to the five-day new vehicle exhibition at the San Jose Convention Center sponsored by the Silicon Valley Auto Dealers Association were asked by representatives of Amici's East Coast Pizzeria to identify their primary source for accurate highway data. KCBS, San Francisco's All News station, received 7,390 mentions, 26% of the 28,403 ballots cast. KGO Radio finished second with 5,125 votes followed by KTVU with 1,728, KNBR with 1,400 and 94.9 FM KYLD Radio with 1,251.
A total of 55 separate sources were identified by the voting universe. A complete voting breakdown is available online at amicis.com
"It's hard to imagine a more qualified electorate," said Amici's President Peter Cooperstein, who coordinated the vote. "Drivers visiting an auto show constitute the perfect origin for favorite highway information."
Cooperstein added that he was ecstatic over the large turnout of poll participants. Voters were encouraged to vote by entering daily drawings for 100 gallons of regular unleaded gas.
"And they won't hear from us again," Cooperstein reiterated.
To allay voter concerns that their names would ultimately wind up on a mailing list, Cooperstein cremated the ballots after tabulation and placed the ashes in the base of The Amici Cup, an 18" trophy awarded KCBS.
