John J. Holland Named Director of Cooper Tire & Rubber

FINDLAY, Ohio, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- COOPER TIRE & RUBBER
COMPANY announced today that its Board of Directors has named
John J. Holland as a director of the Company, effective immediately.
Mr. Holland is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Butler
Manufacturing Company, a New York Stock Exchange-traded manufacturer that is
the world's leading producer of pre-engineered building systems, a leading
supplier of architectural aluminum systems and components, and provides
construction and real estate services for the nonresidential construction
market. Butler is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Holland has
served as Chief Executive Officer of Butler since 1999, and has been the
Chairman of its Board of Directors since 2001. He has been employed by Butler
since 1980. Mr. Holland received his undergraduate degree from the University
of Kansas in 1972, and graduated from its business school in 1980 with an
M.B.A. He is also a C.P.A.
Thomas A. Dattilo, Chairman of the Company's Board, said, "John has a

Mr. Holland will fill the vacancy that has existed on the Board since the
death of Ronald L. Roudebush last year. He is expected to be nominated for
election to a full three-year term at the Company's Annual Meeting of
Shareholders, which will be held on May 6, 2003. Mr. Holland will become a
member of the Board's Audit Committee.
