Nissan First Automaker To Win 1- and 3-Year Shareholder Value

DEARBORN, Mich.--Jan. 15, 2003--Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today was presented with a pair of 2002 Shareholder Value Awards recognizing shareholder return performance by an automotive manufacturer during one- and three-year periods.
The awards were presented jointly by Automotive News and PriceWaterhouseCoopers during the annual Automotive News World Congress.
The awards recognize the highest total shareholder return, taking into account changes in a company's share price, dividends, share buy-backs and new-share issues. Automotive News and PriceWaterhouseCoopers also presented Shareholder Value Awards to global parts suppliers and U.S. automotive retailers.
This is the first time in the four-year history of the award that the same automaker has received awards for both the one- and three-year periods for the same year. Previously Nissan won the three-year award for 2001 and the one-year award for 2000.
In North America, Nissan's operations include automotive styling, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing.
