ARCA appoints Edwards to head up Performance Certification Department
TOLEDO OH (1-15-03) ARCA has formally announced the appointment of
Billy Edwards to head up its Performance Certification Department.
ARCA’s expertise with automobiles in racing situations is well
established over the company’s 50 years of sanctioning professional
motorsports events. Fastest laps, pole positions, track records, laps
led, technical inspections and the depth of technological proficiency
needed to recognize and record such data is an everyday occurrence. ARCA
has parlayed this experience and capability into the formal creation of
a performance certification department, which is now available to
automotive manufacturers. From endurance record attempts to 0-60 mph
times, ARCA has the technological equipment and knowledgeable staff to
certify results that can then be used internally or in the advertising
marketplace.
The department is headed by Edwards, who is experienced as a champion
racecar driver, test driver and racing school coordinator/chief
instructor. Edwards also holds several national and international
driving records. Data acquisition and analysis is provided by Kinetic
Racing Technologies of Holly, Michigan with in-car testing the
responsibility of Full Lock Motorsports of Laurens, South Carolina.
To date, ARCA has administrated certification projects for SAAB Cars
USA, Pontiac Motor Division and several for Porsche Cars North America.
