Sweden's Telematics Industry Highlighted at COMDEX Scandinavia; 12 Companies from Sweden's Telematics Valley Organization Demonstrate Their Latest Technological Developments

    GOTHENBURG, Sweden--Jan. 15, 2003--Now in its second year, COMDEX Scandinavia has returned to Gothenburg (Goteborg), Sweden, to provide its attendees with the hottest developments in established and emerging technologies in the IT industry from the countries of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. Being held Jan. 14-16 at the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre, the event highlights several specialized IT areas, such as the rapidly expanding field of telematics. As a leader in the industry, several Swedish companies and industry experts are being featured throughout the event. Sweden is home to the region of Telematics Valley as well as the Telematics Valley organization, which has 12 member companies exhibiting their latest technologies at the show.
    COMDEX Scandinavia is the largest, most important IT event in the region. It is a unique platform for the Nordic IT business community that offers a tailored experience to meet the demands of the local market. Estimated to attract over 30,000 qualified buyers who are exploring the latest in wireless, mobile, and security technologies, the event aims to keep pace with the IT industry by offering solutions to IT professionals, business managers, software developers, and the distribution channel.

    Featured Telematics Seminar

    The next phase of the digital evolution is about IT entering non-computer products. A strategic track on this evolution in the telematics industry is being held during the event and chaired by Par Strom, a strategy consultant, business book author, and frequent international corporate speaker. His latest book, "Prylarna snackar" (Things Talk), is included in the conference fee for this track.
    The track will take place on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 2-5:30 p.m. At this session, attendees will hear about the latest trends in telematics; new ideas for a possible consumer telematics breakthrough; Bluetooth as an enabler; and the need for change within the telematics industry. The track is divided into four sections, which include the following:

    Telematics Valley Region

    Telematics Valley is a geographical region in West Sweden bordered by the cities of Boras, Goteborg, Uddevalla, and Trollhattan. It was established to promote Western Sweden as the center of the telematics industry. Telematics, meaning any kind of vehicle service intended to promote safety, productivity, mobility, and convenience, which relies on a wireless communication link and often includes a positioning system, brings together the innovation of both the IT and automotive industry. Several leaders in the field of telematics are headquartered in this region, including: SAAB and Volvo.
