CarParts Technologies Appoints Dan Wecker Senior Vice President of Sales; E-commerce Veteran Brings Extensive Automotive Industry Experience to CarParts Technologies' Management Team

    SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif.--Jan. 13, 2003-- CarParts Technologies Inc. (CPT), the leading provider of open, e-commerce and business automation software solutions for the automotive aftermarket, today announced the addition of Dan Wecker to its management team.
    Wecker, former vice president of automotive at Commerce One, joins CarParts Technologies as senior vice president of sales. Wecker brings a proven track record of building successful sales organizations, driving revenue growth, increasing market share and forming strategic business development partnerships.
    In his new position, Wecker will draw from his extensive automotive and e-commerce experience to continue developing and executing CarParts Technologies' sales strategy. In 2003, many more companies in the $175 billion North American Automotive Aftermarket will be deciding how to move their supply chain relationships onto the Internet.
    CarParts Technologies' goal is to have the best trained and knowledgeable sales force to engage with and discover business value for its future and existing customers.

    Wecker brings more than 25 years of senior-level sales experience to CarParts Technologies. Previously, Wecker was vice president of automotive operations at Commerce One, a global provider of business-to-business electronic commerce solutions. Wecker led initiatives in the automotive industry including the formation and operations of GM TradeXchange and then Covisint.
    Prior to Commerce One, Wecker served as vice president of automotive at Manugistics. During his tenure at Manugistics, Wecker helped grow the company's automotive practice into one of the leading industry vertical markets for the company serving clients like BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, GM, Goodyear, Harley-Davidson, John Deere, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Nissan, PACCAR Parts, and Subaru of America.
    Wecker spent 16 years at GE establishing EDI and electronic commerce initiatives across several industries including automotive, electronics, industrial equipment, office supplies, and human capital management. He also worked with Baxter Healthcare, JD Power and MEMA in establishing industry-leading market and order information systems.
    Wecker holds a bachelor of science degree in operations management and accounting from Northern Illinois University and a master of business administration degree from Northern Illinois University.
