Fireman's Fund Seeks 10 Percent Auto Discount in Mass

BOSTON--Jan. 13, 2003--Fireman's Fund Insurance Company announced today that it plans to file with the Massachusetts Division of Insurance a request to give a 10 percent (10%) discount to its best private passenger automobile customers in the state.
In its filing today, the proposed discount covers "Step 9" automobile customers -- those who have not had an at-fault accident or traffic violation in the past six years.
"Fireman's Fund insures roughly 32,000 automobiles in the state -- less than one percent of the market, but the size of our discount is making a statement that we will be very aggressive in holding and attracting customers with exemplary driving records. Some insurance companies choose to reward agents to bring the best drivers to them, we have chosen to reward the safe drivers themselves," said Nicki Colosi Trilling, Personal Insurance Territorial Executive of Fireman's Fund. Trilling said Fireman's Fund has a primary objective of insuring the cars in the garages of the homes it insures.
The 140-year-old Fireman's Fund is rated "A" (Excellent) by A.M. Best and last year had gross written premiums of more than $4.7 billion nationally from business and personal insurance. Fireman's Fund is a subsidiary of Allianz AG of Munich, one of the leading international financial services firms which has approximately $1 trillion in assets under management.
