CLEARWATER, Fla.--Jan. 9, 2003--Ned Schiff, vice president of U.S. commercial marketing and sales for Technology Research Corporation (TRC), , announced today the introduction of the microprocessor based Surge Guard Plus(TM) Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) for the recreational vehicle (RV) market. The UL Listed Surge Guard Plus switches the source of electricity between the generator and shore power and also provides protection for the RV's electrical system. This includes over/under voltage, miswired pedestal power, open neutral, and surge protection. Surge Guard Plus includes a two-line backlit LCD display which provides indication of electrical problems, trip conditions, and power status.
"We are excited to be bringing the Surge Guard Plus ATS to the RV market," stated Schiff. "Today's RV's employ advanced electronics including computers, satellite TV's, microwaves, air conditioners and other sophisticated appliances. They are subject to poor power systems at many of the RV parks which creates a growing need for Surge Guard products. Combining the total power protection with the ATS will make installation easy for the RV manufacturer.
"We have experienced increased sales in the RV after market over the past two years with the Surge Guard product line," added Schiff. "This new product will expand the growth in the RV market, and specifically open up the OEM RV coach market. There are 75,000 new RV coaches built annually that could use the Surge Guard product line creating a $25,000,000 potential OEM opportunity."
