Modine's Wackersdorf Facility Wins GEO Award

RACINE, Wis.--Jan. 9, 2003--Modine Manufacturing Company has won the prestigious Global Excellence in Operations Award (GEO) for the category "Excellent Integration of Customers and Suppliers" at their Wackersdorf, Germany facility. Modine's GEO is one of only seven awarded from over 1,000 applicants participating. Modine's Wackersdorf facility produces the engine-cooling module for the BMW 3-series automobile.
Modine's success with BMW helped identify them as a top performer in the industrial sector, and also their excellence in the other criteria for the award such as overall facility operating results, manufacturing technology and management methods. The analysis was compiled by Moderne Industrie - mi-Verlag (publishing company), Produktion (newspaper company), and AT Kearney (worldwide consulting company).
"Achieving excellence in the supply chain process - beginning with our suppliers, moving on to producing a quality product, and then delivery to our customers - is essential for success in today's business climate," said Dave Rayburn, Modine's president and chief operating officer. "Wackersdorf has achieved this excellence within Modine as a benchmark facility, and now they are being recognized publicly for their significant achievements."
"Listening to our customers' needs and responding to them is paramount to achieving excellence in the automotive marketplace," said Chuck Goodremote, managing director, automotive business unit in Germany. "With BMW's recent growth, Modine is able to provide the entire engine cooling module and offer BMW our logistical support by providing the modules just-in-sequence, which is a definite win-win for both companies."

Modine specializes in thermal management, bringing heating and cooling technology to diversified markets. Modine's products are used in light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles, HVAC equipment, industrial equipment, refrigeration systems, fuel cells and electronics.
