JagUar and Aston Martin and Land Rover Sales Up In 2002
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 3, 2003 – Aston Martin Jaguar Land Rover North America announces record 2002 sales in the United States totaling 102,678 vehicles sold, up 43 percent from 2001 when 72,038 vehicles were sold. Jaguar set a new all-time year-end sales record totaling 61,204 cars, up 37 percent from last year. Land Rover year-end sales totaled 40,987, up 51% from 2001 when 27,204 vehicles were sold, also setting an all-time year-end sales record. It was a record December for Range Rover as 1,016 vehicles were sold.
“In 2002 Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover started to fulfill their true potential,” said Mike O'Driscoll, president of Aston Martin Jaguar Land Rover North America. “With new products such as the Vanquish, S-TYPE R and Range Rover, we have one of the strongest product portfolios in the premium vehicle business. This year promises to be just as exciting as we continue to bring innovative new products to market."
In 2002, Jaguar introduced the revised XK and S-TYPE ranges, including the supercharged S-TYPE R. In addition, the X-TYPE completed its first full year of sales. Jaguar's all-new 2004 XJ sedan is currently making its North American debut at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show. The new flagship of the Jaguar marque is the seventh generation of the car to wear the famous XJ badge, as well as being the
most advanced production Jaguar ever built featuring an aluminum-intensive body construction.
Land Rover launched the all-new Range Rover and made substantial enhancements to its Discovery model focusing on power, refinement and interior comfort. The Freelander completed its first full year of sales and Land Rover introduced the Freelander SE3 creating the marque's broadest line-up in history. The Freelander three-door version with removable roof panels and rear cargo cover boasts a sporty flair and open-air fun for those with an active lifestyle. It shares the same mechanical specifications as the five-door version.
Both the Jaguar XJ and the Freelander SE3 are on display at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show now through Jan. 12, 2003 at the LA Convention Center.
