Powerful New Multi-Media Centers From Pioneer Include DVD-Audio Capability

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2003; Pioneer Electronics(USA) Inc., the established leader in mobile entertainment products, today
unveiled a powerful line of multi-media centers that for the first time brings
advanced DVD-Audio home entertainment technology to the mobile environment.
The Pioneer AVH-P7500DVD and AVH-P6500DVD bring exceptional audio and video
quality to the vehicle with DVD-based systems that offer Dolby Pro Logic II,
Dolby 5.1, DTS, and multi-channel automatic EQ. The new systems are designed
for a dual-zone environment so rear seat passengers can enjoy video while the
driver and front seat passenger listen to music.
For the first time, Pioneer will offer DVD-Audio for in-car use,
demonstrating the increasing popularity of multi-channel music. The
AVH-P7500DVD offers these unique features:

-- DVD-Audio (AVH-P7500DVD only) -- Listeners are encompassed in high
fidelity sound with DVD-Audio playback for multi-channel music. The
availability of DVD-Audio titles continues to grow, with several
        hundred currently on the market.

     -- Dolby Digital 5.1 Channel (AVH-P7500DVD only) -- Experience
multi-channel digital sound on the road with the built-in Dolby(R)
Digital and DTS(TM) decoder. Six high-volt (5V) pre-amp outputs, five
full range and a discrete subwoofer output, provide 5.1 channels of
        surround sound.

-- Dolby Pro Logic II (AVH-P7500DVD only) -- The built-in Dolby Pro
Logic II decoder produces multi-channel surround sound from any stereo
source. The system uses matrix decoding to transform a two-channel
signal from CD, MP3, XM or television to 5.1-channel surround sound.

-- Multi-Channel Auto Equalizer (AVH-P7500DVD only) -- For the first time
in the industry, Pioneer designed a multi media center that
automatically sets the equalizers to optimize the sound in any
vehicle -- even for multi-channel applications.

-- TV tuner (AVH-P7500DVD only) -- On air broadcast can be accessed while
the car is parked using the built-in diversity TV tuner.

"Popular features found in home entertainment products continue to be
adopted into the car environment," said Michael Townsen, vice president of
marketing for the mobile entertainment division of Pioneer Electronics (USA)
Inc. "People want the same quality, control and convenience they get from
home electronics in the car."

All of Pioneer's new multi-media centers contain key features that enhance
the in-car experience:
     -- Touch Panel Operation -- Three audio/video displays, AVH-P7500DVD,
AVH-P6500DVD and AVD-W6210, use touch panel screens and an
easy-to-follow graphic user interface to simplify all audio, video and
navigation functions. Pioneer touch panel screens provide crisp
picture quality that minimizes reflection without adversely affecting
        contrast levels.

     -- DVD-Video (DVD-R/RW) -- Pioneer's media centers can play conventional
DVD-Video as well as DVD-R/RW discs. As consumers use this DVD
technology more often to record programs from television or to record
home movies, they can be assured that those home-made discs will play
back on Pioneer in-car DVD players.

-- MP3 -- The extremely popular MP3 compressed audio format can be played
        on Pioneer multi-media centers.

-- Dual Zone -- Dual zone capabilities enable simultaneous playback of
two media sources at the same time, allowing playback of DVD movies or
CDs for rear passengers while front passengers listen to AM, FM or
        satellite radio broadcast.
