Acura Announces 2002 Year-End Sales Figures
TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 3, 2003; December sales of Acura vehicles totaled 12,344 pushing the division's 2002 year-end total to 165,552, slightly behind last year's all-time record, Acura announced today.Demand for the Acura MDX luxury SUV remained strong with record December sales of 5,043, up 33 percent compared to 2001, and up 29.3 percent for the year at 52,955. While the MDX was a top seller throughout 2002, demand was strong for other models as well, including Acura's number-one selling vehicle, the 3.2 TL luxury performance sedan, and the RSX sports coupe. Year-end TL sales totaled 60,764 while RSX totaled 30,117. In addition, Acura Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales increased 16 percent for the year to a record 25,674 vehicles.
"Despite the challenges the industry faced this year, Acura narrowly missed setting a new all-time sales record in 2002," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales. "With the new models we're introducing during the next few months, we're optimistic Acura will have a very successful 2003."
Acura will unveil an all-new sports sedan this Sunday at the North American International Auto Show. It will combine a state-of-the-art, high performance i-VTEC engine and race-bred suspension with a luxuriously appointed cabin boasting the latest technological advancements.
