Nissan North America Reports December Sales; Infiniti Reports Best Month and Year Ever in the Division's 13 Year History
GARDENA, Calif.--Jan. 3, 2003--Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) reported December total sales of 57,499 units for its Nissan and Infiniti divisions, a 2.2 percent decrease versus December of last year. For the year, NNA has sold 739,525 vehicles, up 5.1 percent for the calendar year.INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS
| -- | Infiniti, the luxury division of NNA, saw its best month ever in December with sales of 8,091 units, a 42.3 percent increase |
| -- | Sales for 2002 totaled 87,911, a 23.2 percent increase, marking Infiniti's best annual sales in its 13 year history |
| -- | The new 2003 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan and G35 Sport Coupe, which were recently named 2003 Motor Trend 'Car of the Year', contributed most to the increase with sales of 4,937 units |
NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS
-- Nissan-brand sales for December totaled 49,408 units, a 7.0
percent decrease
-- For calendar year 2002, Nissan sales totaled 651,614 units, a
3.1 percent increase
-- December marked the sixth straight record month for the Nissan
Altima mid-size sedan with sales of 14,797 units, up 9.2
percent
-- In 2002, annual sales for Altima exceeded 200,000 units for
the first time
-- The all-new Nissan Murano SUV was launched in early December,
and 1,747 units were retailed
