Russian Avtomir To Invest $1.5 Million In Citroen Marketing, Sales

MOSCOW December 25, 2002; Dow Jones reported that Russia's largest automotive dealer OAO Avtomir said Wednesday it will invest $1.5 million in marketing and distribution of Citroen cars made by Peugeot-Citroen SA cars in Russia in 2003.

Avtomir estimates to sell 300 to 500 Citroen cars in Russia next year and raise the sales later, Alexander Bruk at Avtomir said.

Avtomir will sell Citroen models in separate show rooms from other brands it sells, such as Renault , Nissan Motor Co. , Skoda Automobilova AS (R.SKA), Suzuki Motor Corp. etc.

Citroen is estimated to sell 2,000 cars in Russia in 2002, up from 1,009 sold in 2001, which is the 13th place among foreign cars sold in Russia.
