Japan November Vehicle Output Up

 TOKYO, Dec 25, 2002; Reuters reports that Japan's domestic 
vehicle production rose 9.2 percent in November from a year earlier
to 896,640 vehicles, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association
said on today.
 It was the fifth straight month that total domestic
production rose from the year before.
 Passenger car production also grew for the fifth month in a
row, by 11.2 percent. The biggest rise was seen in the production
of compact cars, which jumped 17.7 percent reflecting the
popularity of the segment.
 But production of 660 cc minivehicles fell 7.1 percent from
the year before.
 The following is a breakdown of domestic production figures
for November and for the year-to-date, with percentage changes
from a year earlier:

 *Minivehicles have maximum engine displacement of 660cc and
receive preferential tax treatment. Suzuki, Daihatsu, Honda, Fuji
Heavy and Mitsubishi produce 660cc minivehicles. Mazda and Nissan
sell Suzuki-made minicars for sale under their own nameplates.
