Laminated Technologies Licensed by Research Frontiers to Provide SPD-Smart Laminated Glass

    WOODBURY, N.Y. & MELBOURNE, Fla.--Dec. 16, 2002-- Laminated Technologies, Inc. has become a licensee of Research Frontiers Incorporated to provide SPD-Smart(TM) laminated glass and insulating glass units (IGUs) to authorized product manufacturers.
    Laminated Technologies is licensed to laminate Research Frontiers' patented SPD light-control film to glass or plastic for use in SPD-Smart products made by Research Frontiers' licensees. They have extensive experience with light-control technologies and specialty film laminates, and Laminated Technologies has already provided several of Research Frontiers' licensees with high-quality SPD-film laminates for architectural, automotive and aircraft products.
    Both large and small North American window manufacturers typically outsource their glass laminating and fabrication, and because of this, have expressed a desire for a domestic source of laminated SPD glass and IGUs. Now window companies have the ability to outsource the fabrication of SPD-Smart laminated glass and IGUs, or they can do this work internally. For licensees that prefer not to laminate or fabricate internally, Laminated Technologies can provide additional flexibility. For example, a licensee can select the specific glass or plastic of their choice, depending upon the specifications of the product line or particular project. Custom orders can also be filled, with reduced delivery times in North America.
    In an SPD-Smart window or automotive sunroof or other product, the user can manually or automatically "tune" the amount of light, glare and heat coming into a home, office, or vehicle. SPD-Smart film technology was recently awarded a Best of What's New Award from Popular Science magazine for home technology.
