PEMCO Insurance and the Washington Traffic Safety Commission Ask Washingtonians to be Designated Drivers; DNA Brand Mechanics Develops Campaign

SEATTLE--Dec. 11, 2002--This holiday season, PEMCO Insurance and the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) are asking everyone to drive responsibly and designate a driver. The announcement is being made as part of a television campaign running through the month of December, created by Seattle agency DNA Brand Mechanics.
"The opportunity to work with the WTSC and promote responsible driving during the holidays is a great fit for our brand," said Rod Brooks, vice-president of marketing for PEMCO. "Our brand is about honoring responsibility, and I can't think of a more appropriate way to `walk the talk' than asking folks to designate a driver."
The TV commercial focuses on various ominous-looking details of a car, while the voice over recalls events of the night before. The screen ultimately reveals the car is parked safely in the driveway, thanks to someone who volunteered to be a designated driver. In the last scene, one partygoer is seen waking up in the back seat of the car.
The spot was directed by Ron Gross of Seattle's Blue Goose Productions, produced by Sue Mowrer and edited by Slice. Spots will run on BELO stations throughout Washington state.
