GAINESVILLE, Va.--Dec. 11, 2002--Atlantic Research Corporation, (ARC), a unit of Sequa Corporation , was pleased to welcome Senator George Allen (R-VA) to the Corporate headquarters facility in Gainesville, VA.
The visit was planned so that Senator Allen could gain insight into many of ARC's key defense programs, and to address the Virginia employees. Nearly four years ago, Senator Allen was the keynote speaker at ARC's 50th Anniversary Celebration at the nearby Nissan Pavillion.
Senator Allen received a company update from B. Frank Rohrback, Vice President and General Manager of the Propulsion Division, including a visit to the Model Room where the Senator was able to see and touch actual hardware for many of the ARC programs.
This was followed by a tour of the Gainesville facility where Senator Allen initiated a static test firing of a Stinger flight motor; a stop at the airbreathing propulsion facility where he watched program hardware being installed on a thrust stand, ready for an imminent test; and a walk-thru of the Attitude Control Motor (ACM) production line where ARC manufactures PATRIOT PAC-3 and LOSAT ACM's.
Completing the tour, Senator Allen addressed over one hundred ARC employees for approximately one-half hour. He highlighted the key nature of defense programs in today's turbulent world and called ARC a key contributor to the defense of our nation.
He stated that he was glad that ARC was a Virginia-based company and how important ARC was to the region's economy. Senator Allen also recounted how proud he was to have led an effort to fund a flight test demonstration program for the Variable Flow Ducted Rocket (VFDR) - an effort he called key to the nation's defense.
ARC is a leading developer and producer of solid propellant rocket motors, gas generators, and liquid propulsion systems.
