Customers Advance Product Introduction Processes through MatrixOne Global Program Management
WESTFORD, Mass.--Dec. 11, 2002--More than Forty Companies Benefiting from Extended Functionality and Real-Time Project Visibility in MatrixOne Program Central
Companies committed to reducing bottom-line costs and improving product introduction processes are succeeding with MatrixOne Program Central(TM), one of the MatrixOne Value Chain Portfolio(TM) applications for collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM). MatrixOne Program Central is a unified environment for coordinating multiple, large-scale programs to provide globally distributed collaborative participants with real-time visibility into all project information and status, from both MatrixOne solutions and other systems. First announced in December 2001 by MatrixOne, Inc. , MatrixOne Program Central is being successfully implemented by more than forty innovative companies.
Unlike traditional project management software, MatrixOne Program Central is a core element of a larger PLM strategy. The application is linked to the entire product development process, thereby ensuring that the right people have rapid access to the right information in the right context to make critical decisions. Managers benefit from this "one version of the truth" that provides absolute reality and instantaneous visibility into program status across their extended enterprise.
"MatrixOne looks at product lifecycle management as an all-encompassing solution for new product development, and we view global program management as a critical component. The value in MatrixOne Program Central is that its capabilities extend well beyond traditional project management solutions because it is directly tied in to an enterprise's PLM solution," said Sam Zawaideh, vice president of products and solutions for MatrixOne. "The tremendous success that companies are realizing with this application comes from its ability to give program and project managers seamless, real-time access to the full scope of the deliverables being produced in a secure, versioned environment."
More than forty global organizations in a range of industries are implementing MatrixOne Program Central to manage strategic transformational processes and programs, in many cases standardizing across their entire organization. Among the companies finding success with MatrixOne Program Central are:
-- | General Electric Industrial Systems is a global leader supplying to customers the latest technologies that are used to distribute, protect and control energy and equipment, and to provide premise management. GE provides innovative product and service solutions for commercial, industrial, residential and utility customers. GE Industrial Systems runs approximately 200,000 projects per year, including internal productivity and quality projects, external customer products and services projects. The company needed an integrated platform to manage projects for its new product introduction (NPI) process and six sigma initiatives to increase project payback. With MatrixOne Program Central, GE Industrial is able to provide more than 1,500 team members with the ability to collect, manage, and collaborate on project information as well as provide management access and visibility to information related to financial costs and benefits, resources, and tollgate reviews. This level of program management enables users at all levels to meet project deliverables on time for regular, consistent reviews. GE Industrial expects to add an additional 17,000 users to the system in early 2003. |
-- | Toshiba's Digital Media Network Company, a leading provider of personal computers, laptop computers, televisions, LCD data projectors, DVD players and many more digital media devices, need to produce its high-quality products quicker and at lower cost while still delivering the highest levels of customer satisfaction. With MatrixOne Program Central, Toshiba created a collaboration infrastructure to share marketing, planning, design, procurement and manufacturing information more effectively across 600 users today, with an additional 2,500 users to be deployed by end of 2003. As an Internet-ready company, Toshiba has shortened its time-to-market through collaborative program management across the product lifecycle. |
-- | Siemens Dematic, a global engineering, manufacturing, and installation company specializing in material handling system solutions, faced the challenge of designing, manufacturing, and installing engineered-to-order automated material handling systems that require collaboration from design and manufacturing centers located around the world. Shortened delivery cycle times demand tight customer integration into the project process. MatrixOne Program Central gives Siemens Dematic a global program collaboration environment that provides both document and process management. With more than 2,500 users to be deployed by the end of 2003 on MatrixOne Program Central, Siemens Dematic will gain global customer system configuration accessibility, increased solution quality through global configuration management, reduced project cycle time through electronic change management and integration of customers and suppliers, and worldwide solution replication. |
Since its initial release in December 2001, MatrixOne Program Central has been extended to further address the needs of global enterprises. The currently-shipping version includes support for the recently announced eMatrix Adaptive Application Architecture(TM) (see the November 12, 2002, release "MatrixOne Advances Flexible Collaborative PLM Solutions") and enhancements that further distinguish this product from traditional, less functional project management techniques. These include:
-- a powerful new user interface plus application modeling
capabilities that enable straightforward creation and
configuration of real-time management dashboards that are easy
to modify as business needs dictate, with lower overhead and
higher efficiency;
-- support for direct linkage of deliverables to tasks providing
a higher level of collaboration among and across product
teams, regardless of their physical location; and
-- new access control facilities that enable finer-grained access
to information at runtime and provide extended risk management
across programs.
Like the other applications in the MatrixOne Value Chain Portfolio, MatrixOne Program Central is designed for global value chains operating around the clock and around the world. It supports extended teams across functional, geographic, and corporate boundaries "out of the box" with minimal configuration and administration, resulting in accelerated business processes. Processes utilized in this environment can be implemented to be completely consistent and compliant with company policies and industry best practices, such as Six Sigma. In addition, MatrixOne Program Central works in concert with the other Value Chain Portfolio applications and with financial, ERP, and MCAD and ECAD authoring tools, providing direct visibility to information critical to managing a program. Users are able to work in context on product planning, development, and sourcing rather than moving back and forth between their job and progress reporting. As a project team accomplishes tasks, meets milestones, or produces deliverables, MatrixOne Program Central automatically updates the status.
