DENSO to Start Sales and Production Company in Turkey


Tokyo, Japan, Dec. 09, 2002 - (JCN Newswire) - DENSO Corporation today
announced details of a new investment in a new sales and manufacturing
company in Istanbul, Turkey. Sales of starters and alternator products
will begin in January 2003 and production of thermal products will begin
in February 2004.

Established in July 2002, the new company - DENSO Otomotiv Parcalari
Sanayi Anonim Sirket - began with an initial capital investment of
approximately 900 million yen (8.3 million euro). Eighty employees and
sales of approximately 5 billion yen (45 million euros) are projected
for fiscal year 2005.

"Construction of DENSO's first Turkey facility enable us to further meet
the needs of our customer's in Europe." said Satoshi Watanabe, DENSO
managing director in charge of Thermal Systems. 

Watanabe continued, "We anticipate rapid rise in car air-conditioning
installation in Europe from today's 50 percent to 65 percent by 2005." 

Currently, DENSO operates four European production plants for car air
conditioning products:

-DENSO Manufacturing UK Ltd., Shropshire, United Kingdom (product lines:
air conditioners and heaters; 100 percent DENSO's ownership; 1,387
employees),

-TD Deutsche Klimakompressor GmbH, Strassgraebchen, Germany (product
lines: compressors; 35 percent DENSO's ownership; 139 employees),

-DENSO Thermal Systems S.p.A., Torino, Italy (product lines: air
conditioners, heaters, and radiators; 100 percent DENSO's ownership;
2,378 employees);

-DENSO Manufacturing Czech s.r.o., Liberec City, Czech Republic,
(product lines:car air conditioning products; 100 percent DENSO's
ownership, 120 employees).
