Holiday Gifts This Year Compared to Last Year, According to the
Cambridge Consumer Credit Index
One-third of Americans plan to use either the same amount of credit (31%), or more credit (2%) to buy holiday gifts this year compared to 2001, according to the Cambridge Consumer Credit Index. These results are only slightly less than those from a year ago, when 4% planned to use more credit and 31% planned to use the same amount of credit for holiday gifts. This year, 35% say they will not use credit cards to buy gifts at all, down slightly from last year's 36%. 31% expect to use less credit this season, up slightly from 30% who said so in 2001.
