GM Performance Parts Continues Sponsorship of IHRA in 2003

GM Performance Parts Continues To Be The Driving Force Behind Top Stock Races

INDIANAPOLIS- GM Performance Parts continues to be a leader in sportsman racing. After a successful IHRA season, in 2003 GM Performance Parts will once again be the title sponsor of the International Hot Rod Association's (IHRA) Top Stock division. Top Stock pits the nation's quickest Stock Eliminator cars against each other in competitive, wheel-standing, heads-up racing.

"Top Stock in 2003 promises to be the most exciting season to date," said Gary Penn, GM Performance Parts specialist. "IHRA will allow cylinder head posting, which means the already impressive GM Fast Burn cars just got faster."

In 2002, GM Performance Parts positioned itself as a motorsports leader by sponsoring IHRA's Top Stock division and three up and coming new drivers - 2002 Super Stock World Champion, Monty Bogan, Jr., 2002 Top Stock World Champion, Mike Adams, and 2002 Modified runner-up, Tony Stephenson.

In 2003, in addition to the Top Stock sponsorship, GM Performance Parts is pleased to announce that Bogan, Adams, and Stephenson will again represent GM Performance Parts.

As in the past, GM Performance Parts Top Stock races will be contested at nine IHRA national events during the famous, and fan favorite, Night of Fire events. Additionally, as in 2002, a grand champion will be crowned based on a driver's best six of nine events.

One additional event GM Performance Parts will sponsor in 2003 is the 3rd annual CompetitionPlus.com Spring Open, the official test session of the IHRA. This year, the event has been expanded to not include not only the "Chicago Style" program, but also a GM Performance Parts Top Stock Shootout and a Pro Modified-style door-slammer showdown.

GM Performance Parts Top Stock has re-introduced heads-up racing to sportsman racing with exciting, gear-jamming, race-to-the-wire performances that continue to exceed race fans' expectations.

GM Performance Parts is part of General Motors Service and Parts Operations (SPO). SPO, headquartered in Grand Blanc, Mich., markets automotive replacement parts and accessories worldwide under the GM and ACDelco brand names. For more information, visit the GM Goodwrench web site at goodwrench.com.
