FOR RELEASE: December 6, 2002GM Performance Parts Introduce New Circle Track Crate Engines at PRI
INDIANAPOLIS-Since its inception in the 1960's,GM Performance Parts has committed to providing enthusiasts with power-packed engines. In 2003, all-new assembled and sealed circle track crate engines will help continue that tradition. During the 2002 Performance Racing Industry trade show enthusiasts will see the newest line of factory sealed circle track engines showcased throughout the GM Performance Parts exhibit.
"GM Performance Parts is committed to delivering exciting race engines that are in demand by enthusiasts," said Bill Fitzgerald, GM Performance Parts manager. "It's a long-term commitment that will prove to be worth the effort in coming years."
An example of GM Performance Parts commitment to providing great racing power is the factory sealed 350 HO circle track crate engine. It develops 350 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 390 lbs.-ft. of torque at 3800 rpm. This factory stock engine features a nodular cast iron crankshaft, iron vortec heads, flat tappet hydraulic lifters, and a HEI distributor. Other features include stamped steel valve covers, racing style breathers, and an eight-quart single kick-out circle track racing oil pan. This engine was designed by GM Racing for the "factory stock" class.
For more power, the 355 horsepower, "limited late model", ZZ4 circle track engine features many of the same components s the 350 HO. However, additional features designed to maximize performance include a forged steel crankshaft, aluminum heads and hydraulic roller lifters. Built from the now legendary ZZ4 bas, this new crate engine develops 355 horsepower at 5250 rpm and 405 lbs-ft of torque at 3500 rpm.
"Today's crate engine buyer wants more than just power," said Ernie Callard, GM Performance Parts specialist. "Modern standards include an unparalleled level of durability. GM Performance Parts combined quality materials, reliable power and great value when creating the new crate engines. That's why we say GM Performance Parts is more than just power."
