Ansoft and Maxwell Technologies Release Supercapacitor Model Library
PITTSBURGH--Dec. 4, 2002--Ansoft Corporation and Maxwell Technologies Inc. today announced the release of a model library containing Maxwell Technologies' ultracapacitor products for use within Ansoft's SIMPLORER(R).
Ultracapacitors are ultra-high capacity energy-storage devices that deliver bursts of high power and recharge rapidly. The technology is receiving a great deal of attention as an excellent supplement to batteries and fuel cells, especially for short-term energy storage and pulses of power. Used to produce cleaner and more fuel-efficient hybrid-electric/internal-combustion buses, trucks, and automobiles, ultracapacitor technology is ideal for powering initial acceleration, operating electrical subsystems, and regenerative braking.
"Providing an ultracapacitor model library for SIMPLORER will help our current and future customers evaluate the performance of the technology in a virtual test environment," said Richard Smith, Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Development for Maxwell Technologies. "Ansoft's leading position and focus on providing high-performance, multidomain system design solutions to the aerospace, automotive, and industrial power markets make them a natural partner to help our products gain maximum exposure."
The ultracapacitor library is available for download from SIMPLORER's model database (http://model.simplorer.com). Users can search for a capacitor by name, performance data, or other specification, and easily integrate the component in its local model library. The download also includes the datasheet of the component.
