Rockwell Automation Names Gonring Vice President Global Marketing & Communications
MILWAUKEE--Dec. 3, 2002--Rockwell Automation today announced the appointment of Matthew P. Gonring to the newly established post of vice president, global marketing and communications. In joining Rockwell Automation, Gonring will have overall responsibility for managing global marketing, news media, brand and employee communications.
"Matt brings a breadth of communications experience that will help us build the Rockwell Automation brand globally and support the implementation of our strategic business initiatives," said Don H. Davis, Rockwell Automation chairman and CEO.
Rockwell Automation is combining the related functions of communications and marketing under one functional area. "We wanted someone of Matt's caliber who has demonstrated leadership in this key management area to help lead Rockwell Automation's new combined communications and marketing organization," added John Cohn, senior vice president, strategic planning and development and communications for Rockwell Automation.
Gonring will join Rockwell Automation after developing a consulting practice serving a variety of global clients. Additionally, he brings 25 years of corporate experience, including running the communications and corporate marketing function for USG Corp., Arthur Andersen and Baxter International. He is also an adjunct graduate faculty professor at Northwestern University in the Integrated Marketing Communications program.
He has a master's degree in public relations from American University in Washington, DC and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He serves on the boards of the Institute for Public Relations Research, Arthur W. Page Society, PRSA Foundation and Youth Guidance of Chicago.
