General Motors Awards QUANTUM Follow-On Contracts Through Model Year 2006

IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 3, 2002; QUANTUM Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc., , announced that it has received follow-on contracts from General Motors to develop and produce alternative fuel systems for GM's Full-Size Pick-Up Truck and Chevrolet Cavalier. This follow-on production contract could represent potential revenues in excess of $20 million.

QUANTUM began developing advanced alternative fuel systems for General Motors' alternative fuel vehicles in the early 90s. These awards extend QUANTUM's existing contracts on the Full-Size Pick-up Truck and the Chevrolet Cavalier. QUANTUM will provide compressed natural gas systems, both dedicated and bi-fuel, for the Full-Size Pick-up Truck and will provide bi-fuel compressed natural gas systems for the Cavalier.

"We are honored to be continuing our work with General Motors of Canada in the design and manufacturing of GM's premier line of alternative fuel vehicles. This award is important as we continue to build a solid foundation for QUANTUM," said Alan Niedzwiecki, President and CEO of QUANTUM. "We continue to leverage our alternative fuel vehicle experience and technologies in fuel storage, fuel metering, electronic controls and software, and systems integration, and the revenues they generate, for the emerging fuel cell applications."

QUANTUM designs, manufactures and supplies integrated fuel systems to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of fuel cell applications and alternative fueled vehicles. These fuel cell applications include transportation and industrial vehicles, stationary power generation, and portable power generation. Alternative fueled vehicles include cars, trucks, and buses powered by internal combustion engines that operate primarily on natural gas or propane. QUANTUM's advanced fuel systems comprise the storage, monitoring, control, and injection of gaseous fuels to improve efficiency, enhance power output, and optimize emissions from fuel cell systems and internal combustion engines. QUANTUM's fuel systems enable fuel cells and internal combustion engines to operate on hydrogen, natural gas, or propane. More information about QUANTUM can be found on its website at www.qtww.com .
