Chrysler PT Cruiser Auctioned for Los Angeles-Area Big Brother Big Sisters Rising Star Gala Auction

CENTURY CITY, Calif., Nov. 26, 2002; Chrysler Group's donation of a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser to the Los Angeles-based Big Brother Big Sisters garnered $19,000 at the Rising Star Gala, an annual fundraiser which was held last week. Several celebrities, including Chicago Hope actor Hector Elizondo were in attendance. Singer Mandy Moore and N'Sync received awards for their trailblazing efforts in the entertainment industry. As a corporation, DaimlerChrysler's philanthropy has grown from $10 million in 1996 to over $27 million today. Beneficiaries include organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the National Council of La Raza, the United Negro College Fund, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, and the American Indian College.
