USAC VETERAN DRIVER PANCHO CARTER AND SONS 
TO MEET AND GREET FANS HOLIDAY INN, MONROVIA
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26 … 5:30 - 7:30PM


Irwindale, Calif. - - Second generation USAC veteran driver Duane Carter Jr., known to the racing world as "Pancho", and his two third generation USAC racing sons Dane and Cole Carter will spend the early hours of Tuesday evening, November 26, with the fans during a special appearance at the Monrovia Holiday Inn located on Huntington Drive (Route 66) and the 210 freeway.

From 5:30 to 7:30PM, Pancho, Dane 24, and Cole 20, have invited friends, fans and interested members of the media to join them for a racing insider's talk session in the Holiday Inn's inviting lounge.  

"We'll talk about anything that the folks want to talk about,"  said Carter.  "Both of the boys are racing on Thursday night at Irwindale and both of them really want to beat their old man's best finish there."   Autographs, "photo ops", and just plain old "bench racing" are all on the agenda for the Tuesday talk session.  "We'll all be there at the Holiday Inn to meet the fans," said Carter.

Pancho raced in a number of Thanksgiving Night Grand Prix races, coming in a close second to winner Danny McKnight in the 33rd edition of the annual midget car race at Ascot Park in 1974.  His father's "Turkey Night" top finish was a 1945 third place at Gilmore Stadium behind racing legends Danny Oakes and Perry Grimm.

A member of the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame and the son of another member, Pancho, as he was nicknamed early-on, competed in 17 Indianapolis 500 events (1974 - 1991) his best showing was a fine third place in 1982 right behind one of the closest-ever finishes in the race's history right behind winner Gordon Johncock and second-place runner Rick Mears.  In 1985 Carter posted the fastest qualifying time and took the pole for the 500 but succumbed to an oil pump failure that saw him the first car to drop out of the race.  Pancho's career earnings at Indy exceeded $1 million dollars.

Dane's Turkey Night race car will be on display in the lobby at the Holiday Inn for fans to get an idea of what a 900-pound, three hundred and fifty horsepower, four-wheeled guided missile called a USAC Midget Racing Car looks like up close and personal.  The Holiday Inn, an associate sponsor on the Clark brothers' cars is hosting this special event free-of-charge to the public. 

Good tickets for the sixty-second running of the celebrated Thanksgiving Night Grand Prix on Thursday, November 28 are still available at (626) 358-1100 … Fans ordering tickets for pickup at Will Call are urged to get to the track early on Thursday.  Gates open at 3PM and the racing starts at 7PM.
