General Motors Shows Off Its Latest Cars for a Good Cause
November 2002 (Newstream) -- The world's largest vehicle manufacturer has a secret weapon to promote its new, sleeker-designed cars: View-Masters!
General Motors has been touring a "look" at its latest and greatest cars as part of its national "View-Master" campaign. On November 25, in New York's Times Square, GM hosted a spectacle featuring a performance from the cast members of Broadway's hit show HAIRSPRAY. The event will benefit Toys for Tots, an organization that collects toys for needy kids during the holidays.
At the event, people will also get a glimpse at two new GM cars: The Neiman Marcus Limited Edition 2004 Cadillac XLR, which is the fastest-selling car in history with 99 sold in 14 minutes; and the Hummer H2.
Also at the event and around town, General Motors will hand-out limited edition View-Masters featuring a look at the new GM. And, for every View-Master handed out, GM will make a donation of $1 - up to $10,000!
View-Master -- the toy which first gained fame in the 1950s -- is an integral part of GM's new ad campaign featuring the styling and quality of its broad lineup of 2003 cars and trucks. HAIRSPRAY is one of the top-grossing, most critically acclaimed musicals of the season. The show is based on the cult classic movie by John Waters set in 1962.
