CEO- "Chrysler to be profitable in fourth quarter"

NEW YORK November 26, 2002; David Russell wrting for Bloomberg reported that Chrysler Chief Executive Officer Dieter Zetsche said that DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler unit will be profitable in the fourth quarter.

"It's a difficult environment we are in to accomplish that but we are confident we will get there," Zetsche said in an interview on Bloomberg Television. "The fourth quarter might be somewhat higher in cost of sales than the third quarter."

Marketing expenses may rise because of incentive programs offered by competitors. Chrysler's November sales are likely to increase from October, Zetsche said.

"They started slow and improved," Zetsche said. "I'm confident we'll clearly see a change in the downward trend to the better."
