Motion Industries Receives South Regions Minority Business Council Award

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--Nov. 22, 2002--Motion Industries, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company was recently honored by the South Regions Minority Business Council as the Minority Business Advocate of the Year.

    A nationally recognized minority business certification program and a state affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the South Regions Minority Business Council (SRMBC) promotes economic development opportunities for minority business enterprises. The council's members work to increase mutually beneficial business opportunities among major corporations, educational and health institutions, government agencies and minority business enterprises.
    The SRMBC bestows the Minority Business Advocate of the Year award annually on a corporation or minority business owner whose contributions to minority business development have long-term effects. The award recipient demonstrates specific efforts on behalf of minority business development. Motion Industries received the honor for achievements and the role played to further the progress of minority business development.
