Chrysler Group's Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program Wins Award for Best Domestic Non-Luxury Program

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 19, 2002; IntelliChoice, one of the nation's leading automotive information providers, has named the Chrysler Group's Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle program the best domestic (non- luxury category) certified pre-owned vehicle program in the industry.

All Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge certified pre-owned vehicles are backed by an eight-year or 80,000-mile (measured from original vehicle in-service date) limited powertrain warranty that covers more than 250 engine, driveline and transmission components.

In September 2002, after reviewing 23 automobile manufacturer programs, IntelliChoice ranked Chrysler Group's certified pre-owned vehicle program ahead of Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen.

The award by the Campbell, Calif.-based IntelliChoice comes even as the Chrysler Group Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle program is in its infancy. The program began earlier this year and is now in place at more than 1,500 Five Star dealers of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles.

"To have been scored higher than companies that have been selling certified pre-owned vehicles for quite some time clearly shows we did our homework prior to launching the program earlier this year," said Fisher. "We made sure it met all of the needs of customers looking for high-quality, thoroughly inspected vehicles."

Chrysler Group's pre-owned vehicle program is limited to late-model vehicles in excellent condition. If the vehicle is more than five model years old or has more than 65,000 miles, it's immediately excluded, as is any vehicle without a clean history or title.

Once these vehicles pass the qualification standards, they undergo a rigorous 125-point inspection covering mechanical, safety and appearance items. In addition to the eight-year or 80,000-mile powertrain warranty, all certified pre-owned vehicles come with 24-hour roadside assistance, covering such items as flat tire changes, fuel delivery, lock-out assistance and battery jump starts.

Coverage also includes a car rental allowance, which reimburses owners up to $30 a day should their vehicle be kept overnight for service.
