SEMA's Silent Auction Raises More than $45,000 for the SEMA Scholarship Fund

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 18, 2002) -- SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market
Association, announced that the silent auction held during SEMA Show 2002
raised more than $45,000 for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The lead item sold was a Lava Red Pontiac Vibe with a Let’s Go Aero Herman
Trailer customized by Number 1 Accessories Inc. of Costa Mesa, Calif. SEMA-
member companies also donated dozens of attractive items to the silent auction this
year, including jewelry (hand-strung pearl necklace with silver box), racing
collectibles (a Smokey Yunick work uniform, an autographed Dale Jarrett racing suit
and a Simpson helmet signed by 39 NHRA heroes and heroines), autographed
books (George Barris 7-volume set) and automotive art, clocks, die cast model cars,
jackets, and two radio advertising packages, which merited charitable bids from
SEMA Show attendees.

Peter Mac Gillivray, vice president of sales & marketing for SEMA, said that the Vibe
went to James R. Smith, with Over Fifty Motorsports of Alvin, Texas, for his bid of
$20,000.

Proceeds of the silent auction benefit the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund. The
fund is a charitable 501(c)(3) corporation, so the auction prices are tax-deductible.
To date, the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $350,000
to hundreds of students who are pursuing careers in various segments of the
specialty automotive industry.

"We thank all of the members that donated to the silent auction this year. We
couldn't have done it without them," said Ken Pyle, educational services director for
SEMA. "We’re very proud of how the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund has been
able to help the industry leaders of tomorrow in their educational pursuits. The
scholarship program means so much to the students, as well as to our industry."
