DICK DIXON SETS A NEW SEMA RECORD, WINNING THE AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR
AWARD FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR
LAS VEGAS (Nov. 8, 2002) — Dick Dixon of Access RPM Yellow Pages set a
new record for SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, when he
received the automotive trade association’s “Ambassador of the Year”
award at SEMA Show 2002. This is the second straight year Dixon has
won—a first in SEMA history. The Ambassador of the Year award is given
to the SEMA member who recruits the most people or companies to join
SEMA during the year. To capture the award, Mr. Dixon performed the
amazing feat of recruiting 34 new members in a single year.
"It’s a tremendous honor to win this award back to back, and there are two principal causes for seeking the win this year,"
said Dick Dixon, publisher of Access RPM Yellow Pages. "The primary cause was a tribute to my dad, Dick Dixon, Sr.,
because this year marks the 40th anniversary of him introducing me to this wonderful industry. The second cause was
simply SEMA being a great organization and the flagship for the specialty automotive industry. SEMA has been a
tremendous asset in building my business over the last six years, and this is just one way I like to give something back. This
industry is my lifeblood, and as a proactive person in the business, I wanted to share with other potential ambassadors what
a great organization from the ground up SEMA represents. I truly encourage all SEMA members to carry the SEMA banner
for the betterment of our industry."
"We are honored to present Dick Dixon with the Ambassador of the Year award for the second straight year," said Billie
Petty, membership services manager for SEMA. "With help from all of our ambassadors, SEMA is going strong at the 10th
anniversary of our ambassador program. We look forward to continuing our growth into the coming year by making the
revised ambassador program more interesting and challenging than ever."
There are currently 157 SEMA membership ambassadors. They recruited more than 200 new members in SEMA fiscal year
2002 (July 1, 2001-June 30, 2002). Second-place Ambassador of the Year honors went to Don Crassweller of Crassweller
Media, who signed on eight new members.
Petty said that SEMA will enhance its ambassador program in 2003 as it launches into its second decade. The winner and
the runner-up of the Ambassador of the Year award will receive more coverage in all of the SEMA publications. All SEMA
Ambassadors will be mentioned in each issue of SEMA Member News and SEMA News. There will now be four levels of
participation in the ambassador program--bronze, silver, gold and platinum--based on the points accumulated through
various levels of involvement and total number of members recruited, as well as the involvement of the new members
recruited.
SEMA represents the $26 billion specialty automotive industry. The trade association has more than 4,500 member
companies. It is the authoritative source of research data, trends and market growth information for automakers and the
specialty auto products industry. The industry provides appearance, performance, comfort, convenience and technology
