CARFAX Joins Jaguar and Land Rover Certified Pre-Owned Programs
FAIRFAX, Va.--Nov. 13, 2002 - CARFAX, Inc., industry leader and creator of the vehicle history report, has joined Jaguar and Land Rover North America in their pre-owned programs. The partnership requires that a CARFAX Vehicle History Report will be included on every Jaguar Select Edition vehicle and Land Rover Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. The pre-owned programs offer consumers ownership of a Jaguar or Land Rover at significant savings.
The CARFAX Report will act as an instant background check for Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles being considered for the certification program and will be presented to the consumer as part of the sales process.
Using the car's 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), the report is generated to confirm a clean title history and accurate mileage, or to set aside vehicles with questionable histories such as odometer discrepancies, salvage or flood damage title brands. These problems make the vehicles ineligible for Jaguar and Land Rover certification.
"A clean title history provides peace of mind and ensures a quality vehicle," said Dick Raines, President of Carfax, Inc. "This venture has allowed us--with Jaguar and Land Rover--to demonstrate to consumers the value of a pre-owned certified vehicle with a detailed vehicle history report."
To become a Jaguar Select Edition or Land Rover Certified pre-owned vehicle, in addition to a clean title history verified by CARFAX, each car must go through an in-depth inspection performed with an exacting level of scrutiny and attention to detail. Each of these tests must be passed before Jaguar and Land Rover technicians will put their names on the certification report.
Each vehicle is factory backed with a manufacturer's limited warranty and must be in excellent mechanical condition while meeting high visual standards.
