CEA'S Year Round Promotions of Technology Showcased at 2003 International CES; Three Product Demonstrations Spread Throughout the Show Floor Showcases the Hottest Technology

NEW YORK--Nov. 7, 2002--In addition to showcasing the latest and greatest in consumer technologies, the 2003 International CES will feature three of the hottest industry promotion vehicles used by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) to highlight consumer electronics products throughout the year. CEA is the producer, sponsor and manager of the International CES 2003, the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, to be held January 9-12, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nev. Each of the three promotions on display travels the country to bring the newest consumer technologies to consumers via media coverage and various public events.
"While CES is the must-attend annual event for the CE industry, CEA continues the momentum throughout the year promoting and educating consumers on the hottest technology to hit the marketplace," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA. "CEA will bring three traveling product demo areas to the show to help showcase some of the newest products for the home and car."
The CEA Thunderdorm, an educational campaign traveling to dozens of college campuses across the country, demonstrates the latest in audio and wireless technology to college students and the lucrative Generation Y market. The ThunderDorm is a plexiglas-encased, custom-fabricated trailer that houses the ideal dorm room. Attendees will check out and demo the latest MP3 Players, DVD players, PDAs, laptops, speakers, gaming and surround sound systems. The CEA Thunderdorm is located in the lower level of the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), booth 19117.
As homeowners' demand for home networking technology and structured wiring within the home skyrockets, CEA showcases the latest products and technology for the modern home in the TechHome demo. Displaying home networking technology for the kitchen, bedroom, utility room and rec room, CEA's TechHome Demo tours the TV stations across the country to demystify home technology for consumers. The CEA TechHome demo is located in the lower level of the LVCC South Hall, booth 22231.
The International CES, the world's largest mobile electronics technology tradeshow, showcases the latest mobile products in more than 250,000 square-feet of space. For the consumer on the go, CEA's TechnoCar features the latest in aftermarket automotive electronics and promotes quality professional installation by MECP-certified professionals. TechnoCar is a self-contained mock-up of the interior of a car loaded with satellite radio, navigation equipment, video and digital audio technology and electronic gaming. The CEA TechnoCar is in the heart of the mobile technology section of CES in the LVCC North Hall, booth 565.
CES is North America's largest technology tradeshow by a factor of two. Recently, Tradeshow Week announced it was the largest show of any kind. The 2003 International CES will showcase the latest innovations from 2,000 international exhibitors in wireless communications, gaming, digital video, high-end or "extreme" audio, accessories, CE fashion, consumer technology networking, broadband, mobile electronics, content media, new business technology, delivery systems and the Internet.
