Fiat : "We May Rehire Half Of Laid Off Employees"
ROME, Nov 7, 2002 Reuters reported that there is a high probability that at least half of the Fiat autoworkers laid-off under a recent round of job cuts will be rehired, a Fiat group source said on Thursday.
The source said half of the 6,500 auto workers let go by the company as it tries to cut costs and tackle falling market share could be reemployed and the remainder of the total 8,100 workers affected by the company's problems could also return to work if market conditions improved.
