McKernan, Jr., President & CEO Of The Automobile Club Of Southern California, To Be Honored For Humanitarian Efforts WHAT: During an exclusive gala at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Thomas V. McKernan, Jr., president & CEO of the Automobile Club of Southern California, will receive the 2002 Orthopaedic Hospital Humanitarian Award in honor of his commitment to both Orthopaedic Hospital and local communities. Featuring the legendary musical star Natalie Cole and Master of Ceremonies Huell Howser, host of "California's Gold," the "Ordinary People, Extraordinary Steps" event will include a cocktail reception, silent auction and raffle, as well as a video tribute to McKernan. All proceeds from the event will benefit children's charitable care programs at Orthopaedic Hospital. The "Ordinary People, Extraordinary Steps" Humanitarian Award Event is co-chaired by two prominent Southern California businesswomen: Patty DeDominic, founder & CEO of PDQ Personnel Services, Inc., and Joan Payden, president and CEO of Payden & Rygel. The gala is sponsored by the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation, the Crippled Children's Guild and the League for Crippled Children. Since 1911, Orthopaedic Hospital has been providing care to children with crippling conditions regardless of their families' ability to pay.
