Ryder Names Paula J. Musto Vice President of Corporate Communications

    MIAMI--Nov. 5, 2002--Ryder System, Inc. , a global leader in supply chain and transportation management solutions, today announced Paula J. Musto has been named vice president of Corporate Communications. Musto will oversee media relations and the Company's employee and marketing communications functions, reporting to Challis Lowe, executive vice president of Human Resources, Public Affairs and Corporate Communications.
    "Paula is a long-time communications professional who brings a wealth of experience to Ryder," Lowe said. "She will play an integral role in communicating with Ryder's various constituencies - customers, employees and shareholders."
    Prior to joining Ryder, Musto was vice president of University Relations for the University of Miami. In that role, she managed all communications activities for the University including media relations, advertising, internal communications, publications and community relations. Prior to that position, she served as the director of Communications for Miami-Dade County, where she acted as the chief spokesperson for the county and advisor to the senior administration and 35 County agencies. From 1978 to 1988, Musto was the director of Corporate Communications for Eastern Airlines. There, she oversaw all public relations events for the airline's operations and marketing programs worldwide. Musto also has worked as a newspaper reporter in Illinois, New York and Florida.
    Musto holds a master of arts degree in Communication from the University of Miami and a bachelor of science degree in Journalism from Southern Illinois University. In 1991, she participated in a summer fellowship of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She has served on the Board of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Beacon Council. She resides in Coconut Grove.
