Mitsubishi Reports October Sales

    CYPRESS, Calif., Nov. 1 -- Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America,
Inc. (MMSA) today reported October 2002 sales of 23,414 units, marking a
15.6 percent decline from record October sales in 2001.  Year to date, sales
are 10.5 percent ahead of last year's record pace.
    "In spite of the overall softening of the market, our sales held up well,
brand awareness is at an all-time high and we're still on track for a fourth
consecutive record sales year," said MMSA President and COO Greg O'Neill.  "We
expect the fourth quarter to be buoyed by the success of Outlander, launched
last month in the fast-growing entry S.U.V. market."

    Some figures of note for MMSA's October 2002 sales:

    -- October 2002 sales of 23,414 vehicles, down 15.6 percent from last
       year's record October sales of 27,726 vehicles
    -- October 2002 year-to-date sales of 284,742 vehicles, the best October
       calendar-year-to-date sales in company history; 10.5 percent ahead of
       October 2001 year-to-date sales of 257,698 vehicles
    -- Galant had its best-ever October calendar-year-to-date sales with
       80,087 units sold
    -- Eclipse Spyder had its best-ever October calendar-year-to-date sales
       with 15,964 units sold

Inc., which will be consolidated into Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
