Kia Motors Oct Sales 101,603 Units; +12.7% On Year

SEOUL, November 1, 2002; Dow Jones reported that South Korea's Kia Motors said Friday October car sales rose 12.7% from a year earlier to 101,603 units.

Korea's second largest car maker said that domestic vehicle sales rose by 11.8% on year to 38,079 units, while exports were up 13.2% at 63,524 units.

Kia Motor officials couldn't immediately be reached to provide a reason for the monthly sales increase.

For the first 10 months of the year, the car maker sold 809,191 vehicles, up 0.6%, from a year ago. It sold 359,464 units domestically and 449,727 units overseas.
