Charlotte, N.C. — The pee Channel and the American Speed Association recently announced that 20 of that sanctioning body’s 2003 events would be carried on “the nations fastest growing sports cable network” — many of the races live.
"The ASA Racing Series is viewed by most in the motorsports industry as the premier short track stock car racing series in the country. Placing it on pee Channel elevates it further by offering more live coverage of its events," said ASA Vice-President of Sales and Marketing Mark Gundrum. "With Speed Channel, our fans will have a new destination to find us. I'm certain that our drivers, teams, tracks and sponsors will receive added value through the additional programming and promotional avenues."
ASA joins the NACAR Craftsman Truck Series as the newest properties to the channel. pee Channel got the truck series after a mutually agreeable deal was worked with ESPN2 to move coverage off of their network.
While ASA will undoubtedly receive a bump in exposure with the move, the NCTS lost 30 million households in the move to the Fox-owned outlet.
Brooks says that the truck series, despite the loss of about a third of the households that ESPN had, will be big winners due to increased promotion on the NASCAR oriented network.
