FOR RELEASE: October 31, 2002HUMMER And GMC Take Home Caddy's For H2 And XUV Press Kits
Detroit- The HUMMER H2 launch press kit was recently awarded the gold Caddy award and the GMC XUV press kit the silver by the Detroit Creative Directors Council at the 2002 Caddy Awards in the Sales Promotion - Product/Sales Presentation Category. Additionally, the H2 kit also received the Bronze in the Interactive - Disk based package category.
All three award-winning pieces were designed by Premier Communications of Royal Oak, Michigan in conjunction with the public relations teams at HUMMER and GMC. The 2002 Caddy Award program was held October 16 at the Detroit Music Hall and featured the presentation of 289 awards in Gold, Silver and Bronze.
"The H2 press kit was an important statement for the new GM HUMMER division, so we created a kit in an indestructible chrome box and used very durable interior materials to express the rugged but upscale image of the new H2," said Wendy Orthman, HUMMER communications.
"Our goal for the Envoy XUV press kit was to visually portray the unique functionality of the new GMC sport utility vehicle in an easily understood way," said Pontiac-GMC communications director Mary Henige. "When reporters are done looking at the kit they'll have a good understanding of the vehicle's features even without having seen the truck."
Established in 1974, The Detroit Creative Directors Council was organized to promote and recognize excellence in Detroit-area advertising, the fourth largest advertising market in the United States. Advertising created in the Detroit area that was published, posted, or aired anywhere in the world for the first time between June 1, 2001 and May 31, 2002 was eligible for consideration in the 2002 Caddy Awards Show.
In 1997, The Caddy Awards joined efforts with The Adcraft Club of Detroit to become the regional competition for the National ADDY awards. All Gold and Best of Winners at this year's Caddy's will automatically go to the ADDY Regional Competition. The 2003 HUMMER H2 Press Kit will therefore be part of the ADDY Regional Competition.
