Universal Automotive Industries, Inc. Announces Launch of Ceramic Disc Brake Pads

ALSIP, Ill., Oct. 29, 2002; Universal Automotive Industries, Inc., is pleased to announce the launch of the company's Evolution Ceramic Disc pads specifically formulated to minimize dust and noise while delivering world class braking performance. Ceramic disc brake pads have been in use for over a decade by car manufacturers to eliminate noise, vibration and harshness. Universal estimates that ceramic disc brakes are installed as original equipment on over 30% of all new passenger cars and sport utility vehicles. Universal's Ceramic disc brake pads are best suited as a replacement for vehicles that originally were equipped with Ceramic disc pads and as the right choice for upgrading conventional brakes.

The company developed the Ceramic disc brake formula at its state of the art friction facility in Brampton, Canada. The company is the first brake manufacture to use the most advanced supporting backing plates system known as Retention System in combination with a Ceramic formula. The Retention System improves the flatness and parallelism of the disc pads ensuring 100% contact with the rotor, helping to suppress any natural vibration and noise caused by the friction system. The company's Canadian friction plant is ISO 9001: 1994 and is currently undergoing TS16949 quality certification. Extensive vehicle and dynamometer product testing was conducted to ensure maximum quality, performance and safety.

The company estimates the new line of Ceramic Disc Brake pads will generate incremental annual sales between $2 and $5 million for calendar year 2003. The company is experiencing a high level of interest and has begun to accept orders for delivery in the fourth quarter. The average consumer list price for a set of the company's Ceramic disc brake pads is $85.00, which is substantially greater then the average list price of the company's conventional disc brake pads.

Arvin Scott, the company's President and CEO, commented, "I'm proud to announce the introduction of the company's EVOLUTION line of Ceramic Disc Brake Pads. Our engineering department deserves much credit for delivering world class quality Ceramic disc pads at affordable prices. With the addition of the EVOLUTION line of Ceramic disc brake pads, the company is now positioned to offer a complete line of advanced technology disc brake pads for the professional auto technician and car enthusiast."
