Athletes With Disabilities Get Boost From Avis
Avis Rent A Car System Inc. has agreed to be the primary 2002 sponsor of this year's roster of athletes with disabilities participating in the New York City Marathon, according to the Achilles Track Club. Over 200 athletes with disabilities, most representing Achilles Track Clubs from throughout the world, will participate in the November 3, 2002 event. Close to 30,000 athletes in all will compete.

Eastman Announces Third-Quarter Earnings
Eastman Chemical Company today announced third-quarter 2002 earnings of $0.31 per diluted share versus third-quarter 2001 earnings of $0.36 per diluted share including certain nonrecurring items for both periods. Excluding these items and amortization of goodwill and indefinite-lived intangibles in third quarter 2001 (see "Nonrecurring Items" and "Adoption of SFAS No. 142" sections below), earnings for third quarter 2002 were $0.30 per diluted share and for third quarter 2001 were $0.66 per diluted share. Eastman's second-quarter 2002 earnings were $0.58 per diluted share.
