Continuing its National Expansion, Flexcar Adds to Senior Management Team; Lance Ayrault to bring depth & experience in building teams and companies to Flexcar

SEATTLE--Oct. 22, 2002--Flexcar, the nation's largest provider of car-sharing services, today announced that Lance Ayrault has joined the company as senior vice president.
He will have responsibility for corporate marketing and business development as well as management of Flexcar's California operating markets, including Los Angeles, San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Flexcar's innovative program provides members with access to a fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles, including gas-electric hybrids and electric cars, located throughout selected U.S. metropolitan areas. Members reserve the vehicles for hourly use with Flexcar covering the cost of the car, gas, parking, insurance, and maintenance. Members pay an hourly or monthly rate for use of the vehicles.
"As we continue to grow and expand to new markets, Lance's experience will be invaluable," said Neil Peterson, Flexcar's president and CEO. "He has demonstrated ability in all aspects of corporate and business development, sales and marketing. We're thrilled to have him on board."
Ayrault completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard and earned an MBA from the University of Washington. His background includes senior management roles at a number of companies and organizations, including the Environmental Protection Agency, William D. Ruckelshaus Associates and Simpson. He was Gerente General of Simpson where he ran that company's Latin operations in Chile. After Simpson, Ayrault was managing director of International for AEI Music, which merged with DMX in 2001, where he continued to lead the International efforts.
"I'm excited to join such an innovative company at this time in its growth," said Ayrault. "Flexcar is already making a positive impact on our congestion and environment, but I know that we're only at the beginning. I'm looking forward to helping Flexcar grow and achieve its goals."
Following a successful European model, Flexcar launched its Seattle operations in 2000, and has since won numerous awards and commendations for its program that reduces congestion, air pollution and energy use, while increasing use of public transportation and contributing to sustainable communities. Used in conjunction with public transit, car/vanpools and walking/biking, car-sharing helps individuals meet their transportation needs in an economic and environmentally responsible manner, giving them the freedom of car ownership.
