Toyota Motor Corporation Selects Nuance to Speech-Enable Japanese Telematics Service Offering

    MENLO PARK, Calif. & TOKYO--Oct. 22, 2002--Japanese drivers will soon be able to access a wide variety of information and services via Toyota's new telematics solution, G-Book. Powered by speech recognition software from Nuance , the speech software experts, G-Book provides hands-free access to data, music, and other information from in-car terminals, PCs, and mobile devices -- all via simple voice commands.
    Toyota is the world's third largest automobile manufacturer, and its G-Book service is part of the company's strategic thrust into the telematics market. Nuance partner, Buzzhits Co., Ltd., developed the G-Book speech application. The initial pilot service will be available in Japan starting in November 2002.
