Tele Atlas North America Names Joseph J. Berry Vice President of Sales for GIS and LBS; Berry Brings More Than 20 Years of Telecommunications and Telematics Experience to Tele Atlas

    DETROIT--Oct. 21, 2002--Tele Atlas North America, the U.S. arm of the world leader in digital mapping, Tele Atlas NV, and premier provider of digital map databases and real-time traffic information for the U.S., today announced that Joseph J. Berry has been named vice president of sales for GIS/LBS. Berry will be responsible for building partnerships with customers by assuring their success in the areas of GIS and LBS.

    Berry brings more than 20 years of telecommunications, information and telematics industry experience to Tele Atlas North America. Prior to joining Tele Atlas, Berry served as senior director of product management and executive account director for the automotive OEMs with Wingcast, an automotive telematics service provider, developing relationships with automotive brands such as Lincoln, Jaguar, Volvo and Land Rover.
    Previously, Berry spent ten years creating and managing products and services for wireless carriers and enhanced information providers including Ameritech -- where he was responsible for the Ameritech Directory Assistance and Enhanced wireless Information services -- and SBC Communications. He began his career at Michigan Bell in system development working on safety and security system such as Enhanced 911 and Security Link. His work in the Enhanced Information Services arena earned him national awards including an International Engineering Consortium's Info-Vision award and U.S. patents.
