AAA Michigan Opens New Detroit Location; Grand Opening Ceremony, Oct. 17
DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 16 -- Celebrating 86 years of service to Wayne County, AAA Michigan will have a grand opening ceremony Thursday, October 17, at its new Downtown Detroit branch office, located in the newly refurbished Dime Building at 719 Griswold, Suite 170.
Refreshments will be served from 4:30-6:30 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
AAA Michigan first opened a branch in Detroit in 1916 -- the year of its founding -- at the Hotel Pontchartrain. The company has maintained branch facilities in Detroit ever since. The move to the Griswold location from 1501 Washington Blvd. provides expanded customer-service space, the latest technology and a new retail look.
Built in 1913, the 23-story Dime Building was designed by architect Daniel Burnham, the father of the modern skyscraper. A $40 million makeover completed in January returned the building to its former glory and added the latest in office technology for its tenants, including fiber optic wiring, cable TV and satellite capability, voice-over-Internet and T1 connectivity.
The Downtown Detroit branch is one of three Detroit locations serving more than 400,000 AAA members in Wayne County.
Business hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The branch phone number remains the same as in its previous location: (313) 237-5500.
