Covansys Implements SAP R/3 System for Trelleborg Automotive Europe
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--Oct. 15, 2002--System Allows Company To Standardize Internal Processes, Improve
Internal Efficiencies and Provide Higher Level of Customer Service
Covansys Corporation , a global consulting and technology services company, today announced the completion of a multi-million dollar SAP R/3 implementation for Trelleborg Automotive GmbH, a leading manufacturer of noise-suppression and anti-vibration systems for automotive and industrial applications.
The new system will provide Trelleborg Automotive, a subsidiary of Trelleborg AB, with improvements in the areas of finance, materials and warehouse management, production planning and sales and distribution. These improvements are vital for the billion dollar global company competing in an aggressive automotive marketplace where time to market, quality, cost containment, and innovation are key.
Completed in five phases within an aggressive nine-month time frame, the system was implemented in July 2002 at three locations within Trelleborg Automotive's German Business Units in Breuberg, Hohr-Grenzhausen and Nastatten. In order to deliver on time and within budget, Covansys used a combination of U.S. and European resources on site in Germany, along with a dedicated offshore team in India.
"It's a tremendous achievement for the whole team to implement SAP R/3 within nine months without any major complication," said John Badrinas, president, Trelleborg Automotive. "The value this brings to our company is quite remarkable."
Benefits of the new system and processes include:
-- | Improved accuracy for reporting, tracking and gathering data such as product cost information |
-- | Enhanced business unit views of financial and inventory data |
-- | Improved insight into critical process points |
-- | Higher degree of control into data elements |
"Using our onsite/offshore model allowed us to complete this project on time and within budget," said Siva Velu, executive vice president of Covansys' Central region. "This successful implementation serves as a significant accomplishment for the entire team and positions Covansys to do further work with other major players in the automotive space. We are confident this new system will help Trelleborg Automotive improve their business and better serve their customers in the future."
Kishore Nayak, CIO of Trelleborg Automotive, added that "Covansys has not only confirmed their technical expertise, but has also proven their ability to execute a fast-paced project on time, with a price/value ratio significantly better than industry benchmarks for similar projects."
Covansys has a decade-long track record of success in providing domestically managed offshore outsourcing for more than four dozen top companies, including SIRVA, Henry Ford Health Systems and UNUMProvident Corporation. Covansys offers three offshore development centers, with a staff of more than 1500, providing expertise and capabilities in application development, maintenance, migration and integration. Its facilities are one of the few in the world to hold the Software Engineering Institute's CMM(R) Level 5 quality rating.
